Flat tummy tipFlat Tummy Tip: When your looking for healthy snacks to eat when watching your flat tummy,  and you want a quick snack to fight cravings try a small hand full of walnuts a few times a day, (about one ounce, that’s about 20 walnut halves) because of their hunger squashing protein and heart healthy fat. “The rap against nuts is they’re high in calories, but research is showing that our bodies may not actually absorb all the fat they contain”. Eating walnuts plain are a delicious snack, or try adding them on your salads, pasta, oatmeal or add them to a yogurt parfait of yougurt, granola, walnuts and fruit.

Other Reasons to Add Walnuts To Your Flat Tummy Diet

Walnuts are rich in B vitamins, fiber, magnesium, and antioxidants such as Vitamin E.  Nuts in general are  high in plant sterols and fat, mostly in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats such as omega 3 fatty acids and alpha-linolenic acid ALA  that have been shown to lower LDL cholesterol. Walnuts have much higher amounts of ALA omega 3 fatty acids compared to other nuts and walnuts are one of the best plant sources of protein.

Health Benefits of Walnuts

Scientific research from 10 years of studies shows that adding walnuts into a healthy diet reduces the risk of heart disease by improving blood vessel elasticity and plaque accumulation. Walnuts have  been shown to help in lowering LDL cholesterol, (the bad cholesterol) and the C-Reactive Protein.  CRP (C-Reactive protein) was recently recognized as an independent marker and predictor of heart disease.
